EA Sports F1 24: Details on Career Mode overhaul, new dynamic handling, visuals and more

Race like the racing legends

Thanks to close collaboration with Max Verstappen, reigning world champion and leading figure of the Champions Edition, the new dynamic handling EA Sports redefines the feeling of driving to deliver a realistic and predictable experience, both with a steering wheel than with a joystick. An overhaul of suspension dynamics, advanced tire modeling, sophisticated aerodynamic simulation, as well as new engine options and single-seater configurations have made it possible to improve all aspects of driving. Cornering, rolling resistance, brake pressure and the ability to react to changing track temperatures and fluctuating conditions have been significantly improved.

On PS5, this improvement is even more noticeable thanks to the vibrations, haptic feedback and adaptive triggers of the DualSense controller. With this high-definition feedback, you can feel every bump, every curve, every change in traction, no matter how subtle, during your run.

More realism

Improvements to various circuits make race weeks even better; the Silverstone circuit, in particular, is now more realistic than ever.

Modifications to the Spa-Francorchamps circuit, the Losail international circuit and the Jeddah Corniche circuit have also brought them closer to their real-world equivalent.

Cinematic slow motion, TV-inspired camera angles and showrooms once again utilize PS5's ray tracing lighting technology, and on-track action benefits from DDGI (Dynamic Diffuse Global Illumination) , which makes light and shadows much more realistic.

The new presentation design and new cinematics further promote immersion during race days. Additionally, audio clips of real drivers, taken from television broadcasts of F1 championships, enrich the soundscape as they react to incidents on the track.

More generally, sound plays a very important role in the racing experience. Thanks to spatial diffraction and reflection, you can hear the difference between running on narrow streets and running on the vast plains of a desert.

Career Mode Overhaul

In the new Career mode, players have the opportunity to play as F1 drivers from the 2024 championship, promising F2 competitors or even iconic drivers from the past.
Owners of the F1 24 Champions Edition will have access to two new exclusive icons: James Hunt, former world champion, and Juan Pablo Montoya, Colombia's best F1 driver.

Here are some of the innovations in Career mode:

  • Gain Renown: Build a reputation in the paddocks by completing objectives on the track. Focus on the finish line with race day missions. Accomplishing contract objectives can allow you to secure a new contract or even lead to confidential discussions about a potential change of team.
  • R&D Improvements: Your reputation as a driver also influences the support your team gives you. The better your reputation, the higher the motivation of your team will be. Players can invest in a single innovation or spread their resources for more balanced progression.
  • Earn Rewards: Aside from short-term accomplishments, each driver has long-term goals based on their team's expectations for the season. These can consist of a certain number of top 10 or pole positions, or even a world championship title.
  • Race with a friend: Play cooperatively or competitively in a two-player Career mode featuring all the changes from classic Career mode. Individual driver objectives will require each player to focus on their goal: becoming the best driver in their team.
  • Career Challenge: an ideal starting point before starting a 24-race season. Put yourself in the shoes of a pre-chosen F1 driver and take part in a series of mini seasons, in which community votes will help choose the conditions and circuits for upcoming events.

F1 World returns

F1 World, the platform which hosts the Multiplayer, Grand Prix and Time Trial modes, returns for a second season with a new feature: the fanzone. During a Podium Pass season, players can choose their team as well as their driver of choice and participate in a limited-time league that spans the entire season. This league includes cooperative objectives to complete as you compete against opposing teams.
