Men's fashion: cherry red, microshorts, transparency, etc., what are the trends for spring-summer 2024?

After the extravagance of the outfits seen during Fashion Weeks, it's time for their interpretation, in much more accessible forms, by ready-to-wear brands. On the men's side, the emerging trends are breathing new life into men's fashion. With the return of colors or cuts that we haven't seen for a while.

Decryption with our fashion and trends consultant Alain Tholl de l'Enclos who, alongside Carole, manager of the PointCarré multi-brand store in Marche-en-Famenne, has designed five looks with his trendy favorites of the season. Robin agreed to take on the role of model for the day for us.

Vitalizing green and ocean blue

For this spring-summer 2024, peppy colors, which at the same time invite serenity, have been identified by the trend offices: ocean blue and vitalizing green. “It’s very fresh and it suits everyone”, notes Alain Tholl de l’Enclos. We will find these colors both on the tops and bottoms and even on the accessories. In this look, our consultant opted for a straight long-sleeved linen shirt – “It can also be 100% cotton, but it is super important in summer to choose natural materials that let the skin breathe and provide freshness. I completely advise against viscose which sticks to the body as soon as you sweat a little. little! In the same warmth register, we also avoid very dark colors, of course…” – accompanied by straight jeans. “As for women, no more slims and skinnies and other tight jeans, we are returning to straight cuts, or even much wider, in pants.” For shoes, the white sneaker, classic among classics now, obviously remains relevant. “Sneakers, in general, in fact. It's been a few years since many men have worn anything other than that, including with a three-piece suit! And we find them in all colors, all shapes… There are There are hundreds of models today!” A pine green cap, “which goes well with the vitalizing green of the shirt and the ocean blue sweater placed nonchalantly on the shoulderscompletes the look. You really shouldn’t hesitate to accessorize your outfit!” insists Alain Tholl de l’Enclos.

Dark red and bob

Second look, decidedly more “young”. In the main piece: the dark red polo shirt that you can see at first glance. “It's been a really long time since we last saw this red in men's fashion. It's a hyper-invigorating, dynamic color. We find it everywhere: in polo shirts, shirts, sweaters, pants, the shoes… I recommend matching it with white or ecru, cream. For accessories, our consultant turned to a banana and a bucket hat. “If the cap remains trendy this season, the focus is clearly on the bucket hat! Unfortunately, it doesn't suit everyone… As it has wide, falling brims, it compresses the silhouette. Below 1m75, it will be difficult to wear harmoniously…”

“Jungle Fever”

“Jungle Fever” is one of the other key trends seen on the catwalks. Concretely, it is mainly available in patterns from tropical flora: palm leaves, hibiscus flowers… Here, Alain Tholl de l'Enclos has decided to integrate the trend through a short-sleeved shirt which takes both ocean blue and orange, another essential color for this summer, and not necessarily easy to adopt. “In the patterns, we have very graphic prints, whether floral or geometric.” For the bottom, a classic, dressier cut Bermuda shorts, which are also returning this season, although they had been neglected in previous years in favor of shorts with pockets.

Transparency and microshorts

“Today, fashion is degendering: we no longer have limits, barriers, men and women can share the same dressing room. We have to dare. We can also mix a feminine spirit and a masculine spirit, it's easier to wear. So I wanted to offer a 'gender fluid' look here, which fits perfectly with the times. We have a denim microshort, which we roll up to give a casual look, and which matches. a braided leather belt, then a transparent openwork white blouse, which we are no longer used to seeing in women's wardrobes. The cap, again, which masculinizes the look. And, of course, as the icing on the cake… the banana. “It's making a big comeback. For both women and men, we find it in lots of materials, particularly nobler ones like leather, and in lots of colors. We don't wear it around the waist, but across the body. The accessory is really taking up more and more space in the men's wardrobe. We no longer fill our pockets, we take on the bag, or at least the fanny pack, therefore.

Bomber jacket and sunglasses

For the last look, Alain Tholl de l'Enclos wanted a more elegant and classic outfit, ideal for going out or going to work. “Here, we have a bomber jacket in light nubuck, it's a very light material which adds a touch of chic. It's perfect as a jacket for spring-summer! Then, it goes very well with this very small shirt flowers in blue tones, with a little purple.” For the bottom, classic chino pants, straight cut, in a bright blue-gray, with the edges rolled up a little. “This time, the accessory is sunglasses! They’re obviously a must-have in summer, they always add a little touch.” In addition to protecting the eyes from the sun, it goes without saying… “We could also have added a watch, another must-have for men. It gives a stylish look. I recommend a watch with an interchangeable bracelet. You can also opt for jewelry like bracelets with wooden beads. It's nice and it dresses the wrist.”
